Is Mings Better Than Cook?

With Tyrone Mings' call-up and debut for the National Team, you have to ask yourself, "is Tyrone Mings better than Steve Cook?".

I'm sure many of you will instantly say, "of course he is" and point out Cookie's many failings that distinguish him as a human being and not a God, but let's just remember that Eddie seemed happy to let him go as his wish of first-team football could only be fulfilled by loan moves.  For one reason or another, he was unable to even make it as 3rd-choice centre-back whilst here at DC, whether that was because our style of play didn't suit him or what I don't know, but Eddie seemed to think that he was not suitable or capable to be a replacement for Steve Cook.

So I think it's a valid question to ask now - is he now better than Cookie?  If he were here at DC still, would he even be above Mepham in the pecking (or heading) order?  I don't know.

But if he isn't better than Steve Cook, then when will Gareth pick up the phone and give the big lad with the long throw a call?
